The People Who Shape Your Growth

Growth is rarely a solo achievement — and never a costless one.

August 2026

Behind every self-made story there is a list of names.

The person who gave you the first chance. The one who told you the truth when it would have been easier to flatter you. The one who covered for you while you learned. And also the ones you lost — the friendships that did not survive the new schedule, the relationships that were built on a version of you that no longer exists.

Both lists matter. Growth adds people and it subtracts people, and pretending otherwise is how we end up successful and quietly alone.

**The lesson:** Be deliberate about both directions. Thank the people who built you, specifically and out loud. And be honest about which relationships you are letting erode by default rather than by decision.

**The question this week:** Who shaped the person you are becoming — and have you ever told them?
